No Lock Change Door
If your house keys are ever stolen one of your first orders of business is changing the locks on your doors so no one can gain access.
No lock change door. The term credit card is loosely used to refer to all plastic resin pvca solid materials that can be wedged into a door and used to force the lock open. Remove the two screws from the latch plate on the edge of the door and remove the latch from the opening. Insert the old key and turn it either to the left or right. Change the locks when your keys have been lost or stolen. Rekey the locks you ve bought to match your existing house key. There are still some rather elaborate scenarios where you can lock yourself out but they re far less likely to occur since they all require you to knowingly and intentionally lock the door.
Alternatively you can buy a re keying kit for the lock you already have. To change the lock on a regular door knob first use a screwdriver to remove the door knob and the old latch. Unlike the methods described above the tools necessary for this job are very easy to acquire. Pry up on it until it comes loose and remove it.
Install the new lock body. Remove the cylinder plug from the cylinder. Check for proper lock alignment. Replace the lock latch.
Use the chisel to remove the door stop. The only way to lock or unlock the knob is by using a key on the exterior knob ensuring that both you and your key are on the same side of the door. Buy a grade 2 or grade 1 door locks. This allows you to pull the door.
In some cases door latch plate mortises might need to be cut or enlarged. Do not skip this last step. Power door locks that do not function are another common symptom for a problem with the door lock relay. If it won t lock open the door.
If the power door lock relay fails it will cut off power to the entire power door lock system and may cause them to not function correctly.
